So you need a business portrait. Don’t worry – we’ll try to make it as painless as possible for you. Here are a few tips to help you out:

Before you come in for your session, think about the image you want to project. Are youSession Tips - Executive Portrait looking for a traditional business portrait in a dark suit, or are you more the shirt-sleeves rolled up, ready to get to work, type of person? If your portrait will be used alongside other portraits on a company website or brochure, try to keep the image consistent with what others have used.

Hair – does your hair look best fresh from the stylist, or one or two weeks after a cut? You know best, so keep this in mind when booking your portrait session.

Men – a fresh shave works best, as a five o’clock shadow will show in the photos.
Women – normal, daytime makeup looks best. Even if you don’t usually wear makeup, a clean face usually looks too shiny under the strobes, so some makeup is recommended. A light dusting of powder to finish your makeup looks best. We don’t supply makeup, but we do have powder that you are free to borrow if you didn’t bring your own.

Don’t worry about a blemish, stray hair or razor burn, retouching can take care of that!Session Tips - Executive Portrait 2

Clothes should be neatly pressed and fit well. When people look at your finished portrait they should first see you, not what you are wearing. Dark, solid, neutral or muted tones usually work best; avoid loud or busy patterns. Long sleeves look better in portraits than short sleeved or sleeveless shirts.

Okay, now that we have that sorted out, the most important thing to remember about having your portrait taken is to relax, have a bit of fun with it, and let your unique personality shine through!

We’re looking forward to working with you to create a photo to enhance your company’s corporate image.
